Corporate Social Responsibility

Venuhub is committed to a programme of Corporate Social Responsibility to produce a positive impact on society. We aim to contribute to economic development whilst improving the quality of life of the workforce as well as that of the local community and society in general.We have looked at all aspects of the way we operate and invited members of our team from every level to suggest, and help implement, ways in which we can be as eco-friendly as possible.

Our programme has a number of elements:

Supporting the community

As part of Luton’s regeneration strategy, Venuhub chose the Basepoint Centre as the base for its head office. We are keen to employ staff from within the community.

Environmental responsibility

We strive to offset our carbon footprint. Our practices include:

  • Purchasing office products from sustainable or environmentally friendly sources
  • Sourcing and using ISO140001 printers
  • Discouraging the use of plastic bags
  • Re-using paper for internal notebooks
  • Printing double-sided
  • Using recyclable bags for our own recycling
  • Using portable coffee mugs in cafes instead of disposables
  • Using e-materials instead of paper where possible
  • Promoting car sharing or cycling amongst staff
  • Recycling
  • Turning off lights, computers, printers every night
  • Reprocessing toners
  • Reducing water consumption
  • Turning the heating down
  • Encouraging the use of local facilities
  • Emailing brochures rather than printed
  • Limiting magazine subscriptions
  • Purchased plants for the office to help offset our carbon footprint

These seem obvious and small but actions speak louder than words.

The workforce

Staff are given every opportunity to attend training and educational programmes and we are flexible to people’s working hours.

Fairtrade

We buy fairly traded products – especially tea and coffee, biscuits and chocolate – whenever possible.

Like-minded suppliers

We prioritise business links with companies who themselves are committed to ethical sourcing and practice.

Charity Donations

We will be making donations to a number of local charities and supporting staff who contribute to charitable appeals.
